2012 final positions and times

Welcome to the website for the 2012 Round Leicester Relay.

As those of you that have run the race over the years already know, the organisers have constantly striven to make improvements to the route. Following last year's successful change of the start/finish to Swithland Village, the race will once again begin and end there. The continuing kind support of Peter Osborne for the use of his farm for this purpose makes this possible and we are immensely grateful for this.

The presentations will be held just across the road from the start and finish at the Griffin Inn, again as in 2011.

Full maps are now on the pdf links.  All legs are the same as last year. . I hope that you enjoy the day - please whilst checking your legs, if you come across any major potential problems please let me know.

Thanks to all clubs and individuals who willingly give up their time to mark out the course, set up the changeover points and generally help, not forgetting of course the team managers who I know spend hours sorting out teams and managing changes and drop outs due to injury and hair washing duty.

On behalf of the RLR team, I wish you a successful and enjoyable, day of racing.

Loddington - Holly Cottage Tea Rooms

The race grows more and more popular year by year and this in turn brings its problems, with parking, vehicles on the road etc. Please on the day remember to park responsibly and avoid any visits by the police on the way. This is particularly important in the villages that we use.  In previous years we've had complaints from the residents of LODDINGTON. Please treat property with respect and be careful where you wee.

I always look forward to the relay and what I describe as "Leicestershire's celebration of running". Personally I think it is always wonderful to see clubs competing against each other and doing their competitive best to beat each other but at the same time encouraging and helping each other along the way.

Please note the following important points :

RUNNERS DROPPING OUT - A team may continue in the race having had a runner drop out due to injury etc, the runner on that leg will be given the slowest recorded time for the leg PLUS ONE SECOND. The runner on the following leg will start with the last runner except of course on a re-start leg.

TEAMS - these must consist of 13 different runners.  We will as usual, in the interests of inclusiveness allow runners to double up if it is an "odds and sods" team or if it is a "non competitive" B team. MIXED TEAMS can now consist of a minimum of 5 men or 5 women.

RESTART TIMES - these will be SOMERBY 10.45 (start of leg D), FOXTON 1.30 (start of leg G - note, no restart at Bruntinthorpe due to safety concerns, BURBAGE COMMON 3.45 (start of leg J), MARKFIELD M1 BRIDGE 4.45 (start of leg L). This should allow the race to catch up with itself a little easier.  Note the 8:15am start time as well!

PARKING AT THE START/ FINISH - Parking in Main Street, Swithland.  IMPORTANT - MAIN STREET SWITHLAND IS COMPLETELY CLOSED BETWEEN LEICESTER LANE and BRAND HILL, so NO CAR ACCESS.

SUBSTITUTE RUNNER- We will allow one substitute runner per team. This must be declared as soon as possible to a race official. The substitute must be an undeclared runner, and must not be taken from any other team.

If you need any clarification of the new rules let me know.  Also if you see any problems with, for example roadworks, on the route also let me know.

The Round Leicester Relay course starts and finishes at Main Street, Swithland, Leics, LE12 8TH, (Click here for a map).

More details will be issued out to clubs over the summer - hope you enjoy the race!

I look forward to seeing you all on 9th September 2012
